Tracker & Module Audio DirectShow Filter
Version: 1.0.1.0 Included in: Lite, Standard and Plus.
Install through Media Player Codec Pack and select the component during setup. The integrated MPC Home Cinema player provides the recommended starting point. Other DirectShow players depend on their filter selection and output configuration.

Container parsing, decoder selection and output support are separate parts of playback. See the pack’s complete format matrix for complementary LAV and player support.
Music made from patterns, instruments and samples
Tracker modules contain musical patterns, instrument/sample data and playback instructions. CW-MOD uses OpenMPT-based playback to render supported modules into audio for a compatible DirectShow player.
This brings classic tracker music into the pack’s playback workflow without requiring you to convert each module to MP3 or WAV first. Module formats and their effects vary; the original tracker and playback engine can influence interpretation.
Playing a module
- Install CW-MOD through the codec pack.
- Open a supported module in the pack’s MPC Home Cinema player.
- If another decoder is selected, check the player’s filter configuration and loaded filters.
The available module file associations launch the player; filter selection is still a separate step in the playback chain.
Common questions
Is CW-MOD an MP3 or MIDI decoder?
It is a tracker/module playback filter. Tracker music is a different workflow from ordinary compressed audio or general MIDI playback. MO3 can contain compressed samples as part of a module.
What is the relationship with OpenMPT?
CW-MOD is based on OpenMPT technology. OpenMPT is an upstream project, not a CW-authored audio format. See the libopenmpt project and the distributed component’s notices for upstream information and licensing.
